Do you ever think that you want to make a Vision Board but decide not to because you don’t think it’s useful? I used to be that person! But once I made the board I discovered how wrong I was. So I’m sharing the top three reasons why Vision board will help you achieve your goals.
1. Visualize Your Dreams
Having a vision board will help you visualize your dreams. You know the saying that nothing seems real until you put it in writing? That is what I think a vision board is. It’s putting your dreams and aspirations on paper – unless you create one electronically of course 🙂
The picture above is my own Vision Board. I like to scrapbook, so it is looking like a page from one 🙂 But that is the beauty of it! You want to make the Vision Board that is appealing to you. I have seen many different types of Vision Boards. If you need inspiration, simply do a search on Google and look at images. Another great source for inspiration is Pinterest.
You want to make sure that the board you create represents your most important goals, dreams, and desires.
If you are not sure what goals you should go after in 2019, I highly recommend spending some time brainstorming on what you want to accomplish in the next year. I have created a Goal Planner and Tracker to help you with that.
2. Vision Board will Remind You Where You’re Going
It is easy to get lost in your day-to-day responsibilities and forget about your long-term dreams. This is a great way to help you re-focus on your priorities.
For example, I used to build my to-do-list with things like organizing different sections of my house, cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc. And while I still have those things on my list, I spread it out over a longer period of time. That way I ensure that I have some time to work on things that will bring me closer to realizing my dreams.
In order for the Vision Board to serve as a reminder, it has to be placed in a visible spot. I keep it by my desk. That way I see throughout my work day, as I work from home. It will be much less impactful if you keep it in a binder that you rarely open.
3. Reminder of Your Why
It usually takes a lot of work and dedication to work on your goals and pursue your dreams. And it is unavoidable that you will encounter some obstacles. Sometimes really big ones – the ones that make you want to stop. During those times we tend to become unmotivated and are more likely to quit.
This is where having a vision board will help! It will remind you why you are working so hard. It will help you keep going when things get hard and when you lose your motivation. I have created my vision board when I was at the beginning of my weight loss journey earlier this year and it has helped me keep going when things got hard. Having that reminder of my why has been critical – I wrote about in it in my previous blog One Mindset Change That Finally Helped Me Lose Weight and Gain Confidence.
So get your imagination going and create a Visual Board for yourself. I promise it will be worth it!
I created my vision board last weekend and I really think it’s helped me to started chasing after the things I so desperately want. It’s in my line of sight so every morning I wake up I can see. (Somewhat, I wear glasses) but I’ve noticed I’ve become less fearful of the goals that I’m currently going after and only hope to achieve more throughout the year. I think it’s a great way to measure growth and accountability. You mark off what you’ve already accomplished and keep moving forward until you achieve everything that you want. I absolutely love my vision board and I’m ready to accomplish it all!
That is so awesome! It’s amazing that something so simple as a vision board can keep us focused on what we want to accomplish. And you are so right! Having it in your line of sight is so important.
