Walking into 2020 in Faith

Everyone is still in the Christmas spirit and with 2020 right around the corner, let’s talk about how having faith affects your everyday life.

Faith Gives You Strength During Challenging Times

Let’s start with the one of the greatest ways that faith affects your life – and that is by giving you strength during the challenging times. We all know that when life gets really challenging we find ourselves drawn to prayer. Why? Because we have faith that our prayer will be answered. We believe that God will listen and will help you during this challenging time.

Besides prayer, having faith is very powerful. When you believe in God, you have faith that it will all work out in the end. You have faith that no matter what you are going through, you will persevere. That faith brings you comfort. You have faith that whatever you are experiencing, God will walk you through that challenge. Faith that you are going to overcome it. And when you come out of it, you know that God has a plan for you to use whatever you have learned during that difficult time for something positive.

Faith Offers You Encouragement to Chase Your Dreams

The second way how faith affects your everyday life is that it offers you encouragement to go after your dreams.

About two years ago when I started my personal development journey I came across the podcast where the topic of dreams was discussed. And they said that it was my responsibility to follow my dreams – because that is what the Bible says. They started discussing the parable of talents from the Bible.

Now, I read that parable so many times but I never thought of it from that perspective. That it is our responsibility to go after our dreams and use our special skills we were given. Because those dreams were put on our hearts for a reason.

And that really spoke to me. Because a lot of time, especially as women, we don’t go after our dreams because we are afraid. We know that following our dreams will likely take some time away from our family and we feel guilty about it.

How to I get started?

If you are not going after your dreams because you feel guilty about taking time away from other things – I encourage you to explore your options. That dream, that desire was put on your heart for a reason. You owe it to yourself and to those around to give it a try.

Figure out the logistics of it and decide when and how you will pursue it so it fits into your schedule. This is exactly how this blog and my YouTube channel have started. By me listening to that inner voice to follow my dreams.

Because there might be a person reading this today who really needed to hear those words. And if that person needs to hear them, then it is my responsibility to write them.

Faith helps you with Personal Development

I will be very honest here. I have never thought of the Bible as a personal development guide. But as I started listening to personal development podcasts, I realized that the speakers were often quoting the Bible. That’s when I started noticing personal development messages when I was reading the Bible myself.

I realized that while the message in the Bible was the same as it always has been, I was able to apply it to many more aspects of my life.

There are so many passages that tell you how to deal with fear, feeling overwhelmed, and basically how to become the best version of yourself.

And there are also many passages about the fact that when you truly believe in something, you will make it happen. This is where the whole concept of mindset comes in. This is why affirmations are so powerful. Because if you keep reading the same message over and over again, you will start believing it.

Faith Allows You to Have a Sounding Board

Another way how having faith affects your life is that it allows you to have a sounding board that is outside of your close family and friends. You talk to God through prayer or through having an internal dialogue. I have been learning about the power of this type of a sounding board over the past year.

Entering 2020 in Faith

For example, a couple of months ago I was struggling with comparing myself to other people. Specifically, I would compare myself to people who started their side business at the same time as I did but were much further along. During those few days I was having a lot of those internal dialogues. And would you guess what happened next?

I was driving my car and listening to a business podcast and a message about comparing ourselves to others came up. This was very unexpected because the title of the podcast did not include that topic. But this was exactly what I needed to hear at that time.

You will get your answer! Just be prepared to listed because it might come in a form that you did not expect.

Faith Helps with Self-Confidence

We all go through periods of times in our lives where we don’t feel confident. It might be when you just become a mom, when you change your career, or when life just becomes overwhelming and makes you feel anxious.

But when we have faith, we believe that we are here for a reason. If you are struggling with self-confidence, look around you at the people you are affecting in a positive way every single day. Look at your spouse, your kids, your family members, and friends. Think of situations where you were helpful to them at the time of their need. This will help you understand how needed you are. How important it is that you are here.

Faith will help to walk you through that process of believing in yourself and the value you bring to other people. You will start realizing that you are worthy and that you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing. Chasing your dreams and being yourself.
